Q: What is the curriculum at St. Joseph School?
A: The curriculum at St. Joseph School is developed and maintained through the current Diocesan guidelines which exceed state requirements.
Q: Do I or my child have to be Catholic to attend St. Joseph’s?
A: No, all denominations are welcome at St. Joseph’s.
Q: What are the registration requirements?
A: To enter preschool, your child must have reached age four by September 1st. To enter kindergarten, age five by September 1st. Please bring up-to-date immunization records, social security number, baptismal record (if not baptized at St. Joseph’s), and a copy of the child’s birth certificate when registering.
Q: Do the children wear uniforms?
A: Uniforms are not required, however students are expected to comply with the school’s dress code.
Q: What time does the school day begin and end?
A: School officially begins at 8:10 am, however we begin with a study period due to the arrival of a late bus. Dismissal is at 3:00 pm. Kindergarten class is all day everyday.
4 year old preschool meets Monday through Friday mornings, 8:10am - noon. Parents may choose to send children 3 days or 5 days per week.
3 year old preschool meets Wednesday and Thursday afternoons 12:30 - 3:00 pm.
Q: Does St. Joseph’s have a cafeteria?
A: No, there is no cafeteria so students must carry their lunches. Pizza lunches are available for purchase bi-weekly and the parent group prepares a hot lunch for the students monthly. Milk (white, chocolate and strawberry) is offered at the cost of $.35/day and apple juice is available for $.15/day.
Q: What are the tuition costs?
A: Tuition rates for the 2006-2007 school year have been set at $1,600 per child.
Q: Is there any type of assistance for tuition costs?
A: Yes, there is tuition assistance available through the Diocese of Erie. Scholarships are also available through the Children’s Scholarship Fund. Income guidelines for scholarships are currently set where a family of four with an income of $70,000 or less qualifies for scholarship. Q: How will my child be transported to/from St. Joseph’s?
A: Transportation is provided by North Clarion, Keystone, Forest Area and Clarion Area school districts as well as Private Transportation Services.
Q: Is St. Joseph’s staffed to meet the demands of special needs children?
A: Yes, in addition to our dedicated eight member lay faculty, St. Joseph’s also enlists reading, math, and speech therapists.
